The all-American holiday centred around feasting, football and family, lands on November 24th this year and traditionally kicks off the 'holiday season' in the United States. Historically, Thanksgiving was a celebration of thanks after the Pilgrims’ first successful harvest. They invited the local Native Americans to a harvest feast after their successful growing season, which explains why the holiday is so heavily focussed on food and the importance of friends and family coming together around the table.
The first thanksgiving occurred in 1621 and was a 3-day harvest feast so in the true spirt of things, we’ve selected a few of our food hampers to help your loved ones across the pond celebrate in style. With over 30 hampers with delivery to the United States and prices from £43, (inclusive of tracked courier delivery!) we have carefully chosen a few of the finest quality hampers we believe are perfect gifts to send abroad this holiday.
Traditions are a big part of the Thanksgiving holiday, from popular parades and football games to pulling the Thanksgiving turkey wishbone, every family will have a different way of celebrating. As Thanksgiving is all about giving thanks, it’s no surprise that as a tradition many Americans attend church services to give God thanks and to count their blessings. Helping others less fortunate than themselves is another great tradition, from food drives, where volunteers help provide Thanksgiving meals to deprived families, to giving out food and gift baskets, to charitable donations, this is the most selfless and thoughtful aspect of Thanksgiving traditions. The main Thanksgiving tradition has to be the Thanksgiving meal, so it won’t seem shocking that last year around 50 million turkeys were eaten on the day alone - except of course, the lucky Thanksgiving turkey that gets pardoned by the US president each year!
Our ever-popular traditional hampers are ideal for a tremendous Thanksgiving. With such high-quality items to compliment your Thanksgiving dinner, such as Le Mesurier’s Red Onion Chutney, Grate Britain’s All British Cheddar Biscuits and Hawkshead Relish - Traditional English Mustard and these naughty treats to compliment dessert; Chocca Mocca’s Real Strawberries covered in Creamy White Chocolate, Crumbly Fudge and Willie’s Cacao Milk of the Gods Luxury Chocolate, it really will be a feast to remember. Our traditional hampers range from £49 with our Premium Traditional Hamper to £149 with our Extravagance Traditional Hamper, which contains a magnitude of delicacies, including Roasted Pepper Stuffed Olives, Apricot and Ginger Cake, Honeycomb, Bon Bons and Chocolate Peppermint Creams to name but a few!

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is the most popular holiday parade in America and is held in New York City every year.It started as an annual occurrence in 1924 and its original purpose was to draw attention to the Macy’s store, just before the Christmas season in the hope that consumers would feast on their sales. The parade, which takes place in Manhattan, is watched and followed by many millions of people, whether it’s from the side-lines, on TV or listening to the radio. It consists of floats, marching bands, cheerleaders, dancers, celebrities and not forgetting the ever-famous giant character balloons, including Mickey Mouse, Popeye, Sonic the Hedgehog, Thomas the Tank Engine and Shrek! The parade lasts around three hours and concludes with the arrival of Father Christmas as the show-stopper. The appearance of Santa Claus signifies the start of the Christmas season in New York.
