How about taking a steam train?!
Climb on board the Santa Special!
From Loughborough to Leicester North and back, enjoy a jolly trip with festive sweets and refreshments (for adults too!) and receive a gift from Father Christmas.
There’s a Santa Deluxe trip as well which takes a longer journey. Mrs Claus makes an appearance and hands out cookies, chocolate and an extra special gift for the kids.
The Grand Central Railway also does train rides for adults on Wednesdays through December. Enjoy a 1.5hr journey with a festive 4 course meal (£39)!
3. Churnet Valley Railway – The Polar Express

Leaving from Froghall station this is a hugely popular, magical trip to the North Pole! Lasting 1.5 hrs, children (and adults!) will be mesmerized by the singing and stories along the journey and by hot chocolate and cookies. And of course, meet Father Christmas and receive a gift!

5. Bure Valley Railway, Norfolk
1st December 2022.
This time, a trip for adults! Kick off the festive season with a memorable 60 minute trip by steam train. A brass band will be playing on the beautifully decorated station as you board the train. Enjoy mince pies and hot drinks.

Join Father Christmas on the River Ouse for a magical hour’s cruise through York.
Start at Santa’s Grotto at the boatyard in the centre of York.

Enjoy a themed 45 minute boat trip that transports you back to the Victorian era! Travel through decorated and lit tunnels and caverns. Savour festive treats along the way and visit Father Christmas in his workshop at the end of the journey. A memorable trip.
