5 Alcohol-Free Hen Party Ideas

24 Jul 2024

Hen-dos are a great time for a bridal party to mingle, have fun and party!

They’re a chance for a bride’s different friends and family members to get to know each other and celebrate the upcoming wedding.

Historically, bridal parties have been known to get a little out of hand whenever alcohol is involved so we decided to curate this list for those who are looking for something a little more tame (or for those who don’t drink!).

After all, being alcohol-free doesn’t mean it has to be boring.

Without further ado, here are our top 5 alcohol-free hen party ideas.

Pottery Painting

Becoming more popular in recent years, this idea is fantastic for multiple reasons.

For one, once everyone is done painting, you’ll all have a little keepsake of the hen do. You could even paint things for the wedding like signage and name cards.

Secondly, you can pretty much host this anywhere!

For an easy, stress-free experience, we’d recommend booking a spot at your local pottery studio (you’d be surprised by how many there are!). This will allow you access to professional paints, equipment, and a proper kiln to ensure your items get glazed - which is important if any of the party decide to paint bowls, mugs etc.

Alternatively, you can buy pottery painting kits for home use. Set up a covered table with paints, sponges and a water pot. These kits usually come with all you need but the item choices can be a little bit limited.

Whatever you decide, it’s the perfect task to get everyone relaxed and chatting.

Game Night

We had to include this classic.

Equip yourself with a traditional hamper full of gourmet British snacks, a good playlist, and plenty of pillows. You could also order pizza!

Then choose your games!

Board games are always a crowd-pleaser; Monopoly, Cluedo and Trivial Pursuit are great options (as long as the bridal party aren’t too competitive!).

You could also switch things up and play video games. The Nintendo Switch has plenty of games designed specifically for parties and Mario Kart is always a solid choice if all else fails.

Recently, the ‘Jack Box Party Packs’ have been very popular! These are great because you need one big screen (i.e. a TV) and then everyone can play from their phones. There’s also lots of variety within the game packs with everything from trivia to drawing games.

Make sure to end your night with something a bit less competitive to allow everyone to cool off. Card games are a good way to wind down, especially with games such as Old Maid or Go Fish.

Mini Golf

Fun for all ages!

If you have younger people in the bridal party, there are plenty of great family golf courses you could do.

Alternatively, there have been more ‘adult’ mini golf courses popping up recently so look around your local area and decide your preference. The adult courses are often attached to a bar but you could always opt for a night of fancy mocktails!

Mini golf keeps everyone entertained while also allowing time for chatting and getting to know each other, and it’s even better if you can pair it with a nice meal afterwards.

Escape Room

Super fun but they can be quick so we’d recommend going out for a meal too.

Great for smaller hen-dos, they’re perfect for breaking the ice by giving you all a common goal to work towards.

If you’ve never done an escape room before, you essentially get put in a room and have to solve a variety of riddles and puzzles to ‘escape’.

There’s such variety when it comes to escape rooms and sometimes you’re not even trying to escape! You could be working towards solving a mystery, unlocking a safe, finding an artefact, or anything else you can think of!

There are horror escape rooms, comedy escape rooms, rooms inspired by films and TV shows, rooms based on mythology and so many more.

Have a look at what’s available near you and choose your favourite.

Spa Day

This list wouldn’t be complete without recommending a spa day.

Massages, saunas, manicures and all that good stuff!

Wedding planning can be a lot of stress and so a spa day is the perfect chance to unwind, relax and let the whole bridal party be pampered for a day.

Many spas also offer special packages for bridal parties to help you all shine on the big day.

Complete your heavenly experience with a pamper hamper and keep the relaxation going at home.

We hope you found this list of alcohol free hen-do ideas useful!

Even with restrictions, the bridal party should all be able to enjoy themselves and be comfortable with the activities you chose to do.
